Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music: Today’s Music, Composers Here and Now!
April 29, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm$20
Spurred on by the popularity of its first three events, Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music will present its last event of the 2017-2018 season at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 29, 2018, in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church’s Frazell Hall, at the corner of Lucerne Avenue and Palmway, in Lake Worth, FL, 3 blocks west of the Lake Worth Bridge. Ample parking is available on the street and in the bank parking lot cater-corner to the church.
Emulating J.S. Bach and the Collegium Musicum he directed in Leipzig, Germany, who gathered regularly to perform recent works for one another and discuss them with friends in the informal atmosphere of a local coffeehouse, Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music will present new works by South Florida composers Michael Bies, Robert Hebble, Dorothy Hindman, Dennis Kam, and Carlos Rafael Rivera. The performers for the evening are South Floridians Elissa Lakofsky, flute; Margaret Donaghue Flavin, clarinet; Ashley Leland, soprano; Jerri Goffe, alto; Shane Thomas, tenor; Mark Young, bass; Celso Cano, guitar; Lisa Leonard, Michael Lazzaro, and Naoko Takao, piano; Franz Felkl and Tina Raimondi, violin; Susan Moyer Bergeron and Jason Calloway, cello.
The composers will be present; they and the performers look forward to lively discussion with the audience between selections. Light food, wine, coffee, and other beverages will be served. Casual attire is encouraged.
Imagine being dressed in casual clothes—even shorts, attending a musical event with cabaret-style seating and “serve yourself” food, wine, and coffee, while listening to “fresh off the press” musical works, chatting with South Florida composers and performers between pieces … open your eyes … you’re at a Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music event!
