DESCRIPTION:The Beginning & The End is a visual art exhibition exploring concepts\, characters\, and settings within an epic narrative novel called The Big Book. This experimental series of paintings and sculptures borrows from Romantic-era storytelling traditions\, often-depicted fairytales\, folklore\, mythology\, and nature. Through the use of dramatic lighting and dark palettes\, the works depict whimsical characters while emphasizing atmosphere and scenery.\nThe dramatic energy found in the introduction and conclusion of The Big Book is deeply inspired by the intensity and emotional characteristic of Romanticism. The collection of works speaks through archetype reversal and the act of ‘flipping the script’ on darker themes rooted in traditional folklore.
