West Palm Beach gallery owner and local tastemaker Gaby Viteri brings new meaning to the phrase “local love.” Viteri will host “First, Female,” a woman-centric art show focusing exclusively on local talent at Studio Darczuk, the pop-up gallery and creative space owned by Viteri and her husband, artist Patrick Darczuk, in The Square.
Featuring signature works from visual artist Hayley Sheldon and painter Jenny K, the show is a celebration of Viteri’s love for all things local. The showcase also accomplishes the gallerist’s decades-long dream to put together an all-female artist ensemble.
For this first show, Viteri curated from Sheldon’s signature woven screens and will be debuting Jenny K’s new painted works. Sheldon is a West Palm Beach-based multidisciplinary sculptor and installation artist whose featured shaped screens explore fleeting experiences of the natural world. Jenny K is Delray-based visual artist and painter whose nature focused-work has recently shifted from the graphic to the abstract. This will be her first gallery show ever and Sheldon’s first show in her hometown.
Viteri hopes to make “First, Female” an annual celebration and sees it organically growing to answer the call for diverse local voices in the West Palm Beach art scene.
This month, “First, Female” will feature a robust program of female artists meetups, artist-led conversations, and workshops with artists Sarah Le Pierre and Lani Goodrich. Most events will be open to the public and will be centered on garnering attention to local female talent.
All events will be taking place at Studio Darczuk (156 Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach). Check out the full list below:
