Good Knight: Gladys Knight in Concert

After 60 years in the R&B industry, Gladys Knight still has plenty of soul. The Georgia-born songstress co-founded Gladys Knight and the Pips in the early 1950s with her brother and two cousins and went on to record more than 40 albums and countless hit singles, including “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Neither One of Us,” and “Midnight Train to Georgia.” When the group disbanded in 1989, the seven-time Grammy Award winner embarked on a wildly successful solo career, was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, and won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.

  • On February 13, the Empress of Soul will serenade the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce with Motown classics and recent works from her gospel-imbued album, “Where My Heart Belongs.” Tickets cost $75-$85; call the box office at 772-461-4775 for more information.
