It’s time to show off those chopstick skills because a gateway to the Far East has opened on Palm Beach. Hai House delivers a dose of diversity with elevated interpretations of Chinese-American classics—think Singapore-style rice noodles (pictured here), delectable dim sum, and wow-factor plates like whole fried snapper and Peking duck for two—from chef James Strine, who most recently held executive chef positions at Buccan and Grato. Though the recipes for Chinese sauces such as General Tso’s are typically carefully guarded secrets, Strine has cracked the code. Embellishments like crispy wontons and homemade fortune cookies frame standouts like Char Siu ribs, Mongolian beef and broccoli, and lo mein. Add sexy environs and a cocktail menu infused with unique ingredients including shiso, lychee, and lemongrass, and the result is a fun antidote to dining monotony.
