Independence Day Fun: Delray Beach 4th

Delray Beach is taking the Independence Day party to the shore for a full day of patriotic, beachy good times. The intersection of A1A and Atlantic Ave will transform from bustling beach route to an all-out red, white and blue jam from 8 a.m. till the fireworks paint the sky at 9 p.m.

Think you have mad sandcastle skills? Put your sand-sculpting ability to the test at the Sandcastle Contest. From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the beach at the end of Atlantic Ave., participants will mold and sculpt, creating works of art out of nothing but sand. Delray Beach July 4th Celebration

At 3:30 p.m., the party will commence with a flag raising ceremony, marking the beginning of Delray Beach’s July 4th Celebration. The party gets into high gear at 4 p.m. when the Splash Zone – complete with all sorts of watery activities – the Kids Corner, and the Putt’n Around mini golf course open for the young ones to go wild. For adults, a beer garden will be serving all the 21-and-over beverages one can want—4-9 p.m., hosted by Caffe Luna Rosa and Boston’s on the Beach.

The main stage boasts a lineup that will keep the party rocking all the way to the 20-minute fireworks display scheduled at 9 p.m. The tunes begin with the reggae band Progression, followed by a kid’s only custard eating contest, sponsored by BurgerFi, at 5:30 p.m. The stage cedes to the adults for an all-you-can-eat, all-beef patty pig-out from 5:45-6:15 p.m. for the BurgerFi Burger Eating Contest.  To the winner goes indigestion, and belt-busting bragging rights. The final live music act, the Jimmy Buffet tribute act, Jimmy Stowe and the Stowaways, will take the stage from 6:30-8:30 p.m., followed by what’s sure to be a hilarious 15-minute Lip Sync Battle Countdown Show from 8:45-9 p.m. in lead up to the fireworks display.

At 9 p.m. sharp, a pyrotechnics display will light the night’s sky from the north end of the beach.
