Joe Mimran’s latest obsessions

With a decades-long career in fashion, Joe Mimran (right; photo by Jake Rosenberg) is the stylish leader responsible for developing such popular labels as Club Monaco, Alfred Sung, Caban and Pink Tartan, which is designed by his wife, Kimberley Newport Mimran. Today, Casablanca-born Mimran is the founder and creative director of Canadian line Joe Fresh and also lends his aesthetic to home and entertainment brands for Loblaw Companies Ltd. An arts supporter and collector, he and his wife live in Toronto and Palm Beach with their four children.

Favorite piece in Joe Fresh’s latest collection: The women’s faux fur-lined parka (left) is the perfect winter coat—warm and stylish with a touch of modern luxury.

Often seen in Palm Beach Walking along the beach, possibly stopping at Sprinkles Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop!

Where he reserves a table: In Toronto, I would say Sotto Sotto, The Harbord Room and Scaramouche. In Palm Beach, I love Bice Ristorante and Buccan.

Jet-set: Morocco, where I am originally from. You can’t help but get inspired walking through the markets.

TV fan of: Ray Donovan

Web surfs on: The lifestyle blog we recently launched at joefresh.com has features on the world of Joe Fresh and the people, places and ideas that inspire us. I write a regular column for the blog!

Favorite designer: My wife, Kimberley Newport Mimran of Pink Tartan (right), will always be my favorite designer.

Stress reliever: I am a huge art fan, so I love to gallery hop in whatever city I’m in. It’s a great way to relax and get inspired at the same time. I love to stroll Worth Avenue galleries and get lost in the vias.

Dish he craves: The seabass at Scaramouche is a worthy splurge.

Go-to gadget I use my iPad throughout the day to catch up on emails, work and to play Scrabble with my family.

Trend he’s loving: Varsity-inspired menswear has made a big comeback. A collegiate jacket paired with jeans and slip-on sneakers is the perfect weekend look.

Drink of choice: A very dry, very cold Grey Goose martini—shaken, not stirred

On his feet: Velvet slippers. I’ve curated quite the collection over the years. I am a huge fan of Palm Beach’s original Stubbs & Wootton (left). I wear them almost every day.

In his headphones: Carla Bruni and bossa nova

Hidden talent I am a decent singer. I can also juggle.

Guilty pleasure: Dark chocolate

On his Nook: Patti Smith’s memoir, Just Kids. I’ve been lucky enough to pick Patti’s brain in person, but the book is just as compelling.

His typical Saturday night: Having an intimate dinner at my house with my wife and an eclectic group of guests.

Sunday bliss: It’s all about spending time with my family. And if I can sneak in a round of golf, that’s always great.

Never leaves home without: My pair of bespoke glasses from Oliver Goldsmith. Can’t live (or see) without them!
