Production History: First produced in 1979, Evita—with a book and lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber—was the 1980 Tony Award winner for best musical. In 2012, the revival opened and was nominated for three Tony Awards.
Synopsis: Based on the life of Argentine first lady Eva Perón, Evita follows her rise from poverty, charity work and time as first lady.
