It’s time to get up close and personal with the creative process. On Monday, June 19, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre will host a staged reading of Hannah Benitez’s new play Goy Toy. This free event begins at 7:30 p.m. and will take place in the theater’s Green Room Club Level Lounge.

A Miami native, Benitez studied under Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney at the New World School of the Arts High School. She continued her education at Florida State University, where she received a BFA in acting. Her work has been staged across the country, and she’s currently a recipient of the Playwright Development Grant Program.

A coming-of-age play, Goy Toy looks at how a teenage couple navigates the reveal of an embarrassing secret as it relates to Judaic tradition. Michel Hausmann is directing the reading, which will feature actors Laura Hodos, Ben Sandomir, Anthony Pyatt Jr., and Rachel Comeau.

Part of the South Florida Theatre League’s Summer Theatre Fest Reading Series, this reading is free and open to the public, but attendees must RSVP with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre box office by calling 561-575-2223.
