Pace Gallery Palm Beach will continue its third winter season in the Royal Poinciana Plaza with the debut of “Next Sentence,” an exhibition of new and recent sculptures by Arlene Shechet. On view from January 6 to February 5, the showcase will feature eight of Shechet’s works, ranging in size from small- to human-scale, created between 2020 and 2022.

On Saturday, January 7, Shechet will participate in a talk with Laura Hoptman, director of the Drawing Center New York, hosted at The Bunker Artspace in West Palm Beach.

The sculptures in “Next Sentence” reflect Shechet’s explorations into boundary-collapsing visual paradoxes that uncover the potential of seemingly disparate materials and forms. Highlights in the upcoming show are Teasing and Squeezing (2022), made from glazed ceramic, dyed hardwood, and painted steel; Speaking of Drawing (2021), a painted hardwood and plywood sculpture that stands as the largest in the exhibition; and With Wet (2022), made white gold leaf that gives the sculpture’s extended limb a metallic, otherworldly quality.
