Annie Falk
Occupation: philantrhopist, author of entertaining books, domestic goddess
Beauty Factor: Devoted wife, mother and friend; community activist; serial
chairwoman; hostess extraordinaire
First job: Modeling for the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs. I stayed in the modeling industry until I was 19.
Hero: My father
Favorite pastime: Walking through the botanical gardens at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens with my daughters and sitting by the koi pond.
Personal style: Classic with a bit of retro glamour. I like to dress for the occasion, especially for a themed event. I’ve been known to dress Bohemian chic, crazy mad hatter, smoldering goddess and Lady Liberty.
Philanthropic goals: To become more involved with Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, with a focus on reducing children’s exposure to harmful chemicals, and to finish my second book on entertaining, which is set in the Hamptons and will benefit the Peconic Baykeeper.
Quote that inspires you: “You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world.” — Woodrow Wilson
Little-known fact: In the 1980s, Yankees player Rick Cerone and I were the spokespeople for 10 Jeans. I was called “Ms. 10.” Bucket-list must: I’ve never had one. If I want to do something, I just do it.
Words to live by: Be strong in your convictions, be gentle in approach, be compassionate with all beings and smile often.
