Sotheby’s Palm Beach will showcase blue-chip works by the likes of Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Fernand Léger, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and more at The Royal Poinciana Plaza gallery through Sunday, January 31.

Mark Rothko, No. 7 (Dark Over Light), 1954

The “Picasso to Rothko: European and American Masters in Dialogue” exhibition, presented by Nahmad, will connect the icons of modern and contemporary art across decades and continents. Picasso and Léger’s early twentieth century French modernism meet New York-based Rothko’s 1950s abstraction, which sets the stage for Basquiat’s powerful 1980s works inspired the vibrant downtown scene in New York.

The exhibition provides a thoughtful evaluation of how these artists relate to each other and offer a fresh perspective on each masterpiece.
