The Full Monty at The Wick Theatre

When times get tough, the tough gets … naked. At least that’s the case in The Full Monty, a hilarious musical set to hit Boca Raton’s The Wick Theatre and Costume Museum from February 20 to March 23. Part of the Wick’s Broadway Series, The Full Monty is a story of perseverance—with an adult theme.

The American adaptation of the British film of the same name, The Full Monty tells a story of six unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo, New York who, desperate to make money, put on a one-time show inspired by Chippendales (and their wives’ enthusiasm for the performance). As the men prepare to bare it all, they begin to conquer fears, expose and banish self-consciousness and anxieties, and learn the true meaning of friendship.

The Sound of Music - Broadway Musical - The Wick Theatre & Costume MuseumWhile there, make a day of it and check out the theater’s magnificent Costume Museum, which displays owner and founder Marilyn Wick’s private collection of more than 1.2 million costumes from 12 of Broadway’s biggest hits. The memorabilia is on permanent display alongside eight additional spaces filled with rotating pieces from the collection as well as shows currently on the stage. For an in-depth look of the museum, take a museum tour ($48 per person), which includes lunch at the facility’s replica of the Tavern on the Green, aptly named the Wick Tavern. The guided tours take visitors back in time, revisiting some of Broadway’s biggest moments with the costumes and stories that made them so iconic. Cabaret shows also dot the schedule and are included with the museum tour and luncheon for an additional $10 on admission ($58 total).
