The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will bring back the popular Thoroughfare pop-up on Clematis St. to enhance the holiday shopping season. In collaboration with the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Association and the City of West Palm Beach, Thoroughfare’s goal is to create an opportunity for small local businesses to present a retail experience on Downtown’s Clematis Street. The returning pop-up will feature four vendors and will be open from Saturday, December 5, to May 2.

“We wanted to bring back this community marketplace in time to give holiday shoppers an interesting local retail experience when purchasing holiday gifts,” said Sherryl Muriente, DDA Manager of Urban Placemaking who is overseeing the destination’s logistics and implementation. “We’re also introducing monthly themed happenings to foster a sense of community and excitement for both shoppers and business owners, while combining both a virtual presence and a real life experience.”

The first events at Thoroughfare will be holiday themed, including the opening of the retro winter market on December 5 and the Sip n’ Shop Ugly Sweater Sunday and Virtual Fashion Contest on December 20. Both will feature exclusive discounts and offerings at the shops including special winter-themed drinks from Oceana Coffee and a Christmas Cactus workshop from GROW. The market will be decked out with holiday splendor including twinkly lights and snow globe the entire month. January, February, March, and April will also have their own themes as well.

Thoroughfare’s vendors include Oceana Coffee, a local coffee shop that serves small-batch roasted coffee, OddFellows, a vintage clothing store for both men and women, GROW, a biophilic design company, and 1909, a local coworking space and incubator that will rotate different entrepreneurs in its space. All four vendors will be open Thursday through Sunday on the following schedule: Thursday and Friday from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pop-up will also be open between 5 and 8 p.m. on its opening day, Saturday, Dec. 5.
