SUMMARY:The DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk for Down Syndrome 31 Years/ 32Walks Together
DESCRIPTION:The DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk is more than just a walk in the park. It is a celebration of community\, inclusion\, advocacy\, and the extraordinary individuals with Down syndrome who inspire us every day. \nIn 1995\, the National Down Syndrome Society invited organizations across the country to come together at the local level and walk to build awareness about Down syndrome. A handful of Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization (GCDSO) families answered that call\, gathering in a park for a quick walk followed by a day of fun and fellowship. \nThirty-two walks later\, that small gathering has grown into one of GCDSO’s most meaningful annual events. \nThis year\, more than 1\,500 people are expected to come together for the DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk. Participants will enjoy a morning filled with community\, connection\, entertainment\, and a wide array of activities for children and adults. Together\, we aim to raise $200\,000 to support GCDSO’s continued work on behalf of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. \nFor 46 years\, the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization has been a fierce advocate for the rights\, inclusion\, opportunities\, and well-being of children and adults with Down syndrome. Our work is rooted in the belief that every person deserves access to the advocacy\, education\, resources\, support\, and awareness needed to help transform “what is” into “what should be.” \nThe DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk gives families\, friends\, community members\, businesses\, and organizations an opportunity to stand alongside GCDSO and help advance that mission. \nEvery walker\, donor\, volunteer\, and sponsor becomes part of something bigger. Your participation helps raise awareness\, strengthen families\, create opportunities\, and expand equity throughout our community. When we work together to achieve greater inclusion and equity for one person with Down syndrome\, we help build a more inclusive and equitable community for everyone. \nWhether you walk with us\, support a team\, become a sponsor\, volunteer\, or simply come out to celebrate\, your presence matters. \nJoin more than 1\,500 members of our community for the 32nd DownRight ExtraOrdinary Walk and help us reach our $200\,000 fundraising goal. Together\, we can celebrate individuals with Down syndrome\, support their families\, champion inclusion\, and continue creating a community where every person has the opportunity to thrive. \nIt’s more than just a walk in the park.
