Born from the foodies who made Benny’s on the Beach a gourmet Lake Worth brunch favorite in 2013, entrepreneurs Lee and Max Lipton are partnering with executive chef Jeremy Hanlon on a new venture—and it’s just down the pier.
The menu at Lake Worth’s newly opened Viva La Playa is inspired by Hanlon’s extensive travels through Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Brazil—offering diners plates that sing with Latin American sabor.
There’s flavor enough to spare whether you’re a carnivore or no. Skipping meat? Try the Nopal—a plate of grilled cactus, corn, sweet peppers, creamy cauliflower, and hearts of palm, topped with picked onion. For the seafood lover, the Ceviche—a mix of halibut and wahoo, jalapeño, jicama, red onion, cucumber and choclo, served on plantain chips—is a must-not-miss. Prefer something meatier? The Chicharron—a serving of sliced pork belly, roasted corn, cilantro sauce and picked onions is crave-worthy.
Situated at the north end of the Lake Worth Casino, Viva La Playa boasts indoor and outdoor dining (with oceanfront or sunset-on-the-intracoastal views). Sip a bespoke cocktail, sample Hanlon’s Latin American-inspired offerings (don’t forget to order the Chocolate Sopapilla for dessert), and take a post-meal stroll on the nearby beach. It’s like a mini-staycation during these travel-troubled times.
