The Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach debuted its Wee Free Library, a creative and playful spin on traditional Little Free Libraries. The adorable bubblegum pink Smeg refrigerator stands tall adjacent to Celis Produce and creates an amenity for children and their families, all while promoting literacy and inclusion in Palm Beach fashion.
Housed behind the Wee Free Library’s top door, children of all ages will find fun reads, crayons, and coloring books, while parents will find custom bookmarks with revolving offers from businesses at The Royal and community partners. The freezer compartment of the library will stock complimentary pops perfect for keeping little ones cool in the plaza’s sunny courtyards.
Diversity and representation are priorities of The Royal Poinciana Plaza and their parent company, WS Development, which is reflected in the initial set of books in the Wee Free Library. The books were sourced from OurShelves, a book subscription company that specializes in high-quality children’s books that tell stories of racially and ethnically diverse, LGBTQ+, and feminist characters and families. The Wee Free Library will also provide parents the opportunity to win an annual OurShelves subscription, with new winners announced every three months.
Visitors are encouraged to engage with the amenity by borrowing and contributing books, sharing pictures and videos to social media, and enjoying the cool reads and cold treats available.
