It’s an election year, and you know what that means – it’s time for a parody. If you missed The Second City’s performance of Unelectable You the other day, you’re in luck – Lynn University is presenting Capitol Steps on October 1-2 at the university’s Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center in Boca Raton.
Capitol Steps was first created when Senate staffers were planning a Christmas party and wanted to stage a nativity play, but couldn’t find three wise men or a virgin in the whole Congress. So, they dug into the headlines to create their special brand of parody, satire, and song. This election year, imagine the fun they’ll have!
Part of Libby Dodson’s Live at Lynn Theatre Series, this performance will follow the line “What To Expect When You’re Electing,” and will feature numerous song parodies and appearances on stage by Donald Trump, Hillary & Bill Clinton, both Vice Presidential candidates, Putin and the Pope, and couple of Supreme Court Justices – a complete cavalcade of colorful campaign characters.
