If you can’t beat the heat, join it! Before back-to-school is in full swing, enjoy some time outside at three local institutions.

Mounts Botanical Garden

At Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach, celebrate the longer days of summer by touring the garden’s more than 7,000 species of plants. During Summer Golden Hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, visitors can stick around until 8 p.m. to take in the surrounds during cooler temps. Plus, Palm Beach County residents enjoy complimentary admission August 5, and pups are welcome during Dogs’ Day in the Garden August 9.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum

Due north, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum hosts Twilight Yoga in the shade of the banyan tree August 3, 10, 17, and 24; Sunset Tours August 5, 12, 19, and 26; and a full-moon Lighthouse Moonrise Tour August 28.
