Creative Comrades
January 19, 2018
Personal struggles often inspire the most captivating works of art. For West Palm Beach resident Mary Fisher, her battles with AIDS and cancer led to a passion for advocacy and a one-of-a-kind approach to multimedia art, predominately textile creation. From January 19 to February 10, she’ll display a body of work entitled Words to Silence as part of a group exhibition called “Textile Meditations: Mary Fisher and Friends” at the Armory Art Center. She’ll be joined by American artists Jane Dunnewold and Marsha Christo as well as Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn, both of whom hail from London. The Armory’s first international textile exhibit, “Textile Meditations” will also include many auxiliary events, such as a keynote speech by Fisher on January 20 and a duo of workshops hosted by her compatriots.
