Explore the worlds of our animal companions in “Cats & Dogs,” debuting at the Cox Science Center & Aquarium in West Palm Beach October 10.
“Cats & Dogs” examines what science, sociology, and culture have taught us about canines and felines. As the science of animal behavior has advanced, researchers have challenged long-held assumptions about how cats and dogs demonstrate their skills, awareness, and intelligence.
Step into the sensory worlds of cats and dogs to discover how they perceive their surroundings. Guests can put their own senses and physical skills to the test while exploring how cats and dogs see, hear, smell, and move through the world. Additionally, families will see the remarkable variety of canine and feline body types and traits, from the tiniest Chihuahuas and tallest Great Danes to furry Persians and hairless Sphynx cats.
The exhibition also explores the many ways cats and dogs communicate, through smell, touch, sounds, visual cues, and body language. From decoding those signals to discovering how their senses compare to our own, “Cats & Dogs” offers visitors a new way to understand the animals that share their homes and experience the world from their point of view.
“Cats & Dogs” was created by La Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in partnership with Le Musée de la civilisation and produced by Imagine.
