Red Hot Patriot

A ceiling-breaker in her own way, Molly Ivins’ career as a journalist and political columnist made her one of the most feared writers in not only Texas but also the nation. The Women’s Theatre Project will pay homage to this Texas original with the one-woman show Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins from February 28 to March 16 at the Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton.

Women's Theatre Project - Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins

Written by journalists and sisters Margaret and Allison Engel, the fictionalized production allows Ivins to tell her life story in her own words. Starring Barbara Bradshaw as Ivins, the play takes its cues from Ivins’s newspaper columns and articles that appeared in The Texas Observer, the Dallas Times Herald and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where her wit and satirical bite bit hardest.
