Thanksgiving Day Cocktail Recipes

Healthy bartender Jules Aron highlights fall flavor with three craft cocktail recipes from this season's Fresh Rx dinner series.

Pumpkin Old Fashioned

makes one serving

What You’ll Need:
1.5 ounces Dark Rum
.75 ounces Pimento Dram (All Spice Liqueur)
.75 ounces pumpkin syrup
maple cotton candy for garnish

What to Do:
Add the ingredients into a mixing tin with ice and stir. Strain into a glass with fresh ice and garnish with maple cotton candy.

Pumpkin Syrup
makes a half a cup

What You’ll Need:
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons unsweetened pumpkin puree

What to Do:
Stir the maple syrup in the boiling water until it dissolves, then add the pumpkin puree.
Stir once more until its homogenized. Let cool and transfer to a sealed glass container. Will last a week in the refrigerator.


Orchard Spice

makes one serving

What you’ll need:
1.5 ounce vodka
1 ounce fresh pressed apple and pear juices
.5 ounce fresh lemon juice
.5 ounce spiced sage syrup
3 ounces hard cider
sage leaf for garnish
What to do:
Add the first four ingredients into a mixing tin with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled coupe and top with sparkling cider. Garnish with a sage leaf.
Spiced Sage Syrup
makes a half a cup
What You’ll Need:
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2  cup honey
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamon pods
handful of sage leaves
2 inch strip of orange zest
What to Do:
Bring water, honey, cinnamon stick, cardamon, sage and zest to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool then strain into an airtight container. Will last up to two weeks in the refrigerator.

Green Dragon

makes one serving

What You’ll Need:

1 ounce tequila
1 ounce mezcal
1 ounce fresh pressed celery and cucumber juices
.5 ounce serrano pepper syrup
.5 ounce fresh lime juice
black salt for rim

What to Do:

Add the ingredients into a mixing tin with ice and shake. Strain into a fresh glass rimmed with black salt.

Serrano Pepper Syrup
makes half a cup

Stir the honey in boiling hot water until the sweetener dissolves. Add the serrano pepper. Steep for 15 minutes then strain into a glass container. Will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
