Co-owned by David Beckham along with brothers Jorge Mas and José Mas, Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami (Inter Miami CF for short) launched as a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion club in 2020. The franchise skyrocketed in step with the signing of soccer GOAT Lionel Messi in 2023, cementing Miami as a rising force in fútbol. The team has scored three major trophies since its inception: the 2023 Leagues Cup, 2024 Supporters’ Shield, and 2025 MLS Cup Championship. Inter Miami’s regular season generally runs from late February through November, with playoffs often extending longer, depending on results. The team’s first official match at its new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, is scheduled for April 4 against Austin. Here, we share everything to know before the kickoff.

Welcome Home

Debuting for the 2026 MLS season, Miami Freedom Park is a massive, privately funded, $1 billion development anchored by a 25,000-seat stadium just for Inter Miami. Spread across 131 acres next to the Miami International Airport, the complex also includes a large public park, a 750-room hotel, an entertainment district, and retail and office space.

Vibe Check

Between their flag waving and endless energy, Miami fans are as passionate as they come. Inter Miami supporters get loud with a mix of Spanish and English chants and callbacks, from “Vamos a Cantar” to deep bellows of “Messi” to the legendary “Gooooooal!” Match days are electric, with fans outfitted in pink (a nod to South Florida’s soul, from sunsets to Art Deco), black, and white (symbolizing the heron in the club’s crest). Dress in club colors, player jerseys, or casual sporty gear, and come early to tailgate and soak up Miami’s vibrant soccer culture.

Players to Watch

Messi, duh—he’s a global icon for a reason. But keep an eye on forward Luis Suárez and emerging stars like 20-year-old Mateo Silvetti and Pembroke Pines–born defender Noah Allen, too.

Signature Sip

Perk up for the match with an espresso martini made with Ketel One, the official vodka of Inter Miami. The guava watermelon lemonade and Miami Rosa (with grapefruit, lime, and agave) are also refreshing.

Eat Up

Food options at an Inter Miami match range from game-day classics like popcorn and hot dogs to Argentine street food (in honor of Messi), fare from Michelin-starred chefs, and even a pitch-side omakase experience. This is Miami, after all.

Getting There

Nobody likes driving to the Miami airport, but Brightline and its train-to-stadium connections are always an option. You can also connect from MiamiCentral to Miami Freedom Park via Metrorail.
