Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta will unveil “Lush 4: A Contemporary Ceramics Biennial,” presented by Cary Stamp & Co., September 10.
This year’s juried exhibition features innovative works from 74 emerging and established artists working in contemporary ceramics from across the United States and more than $4,000 in awards.
“Lush 4” highlights functional, sculptural, and experimental works, from objects rooted in the traditions of the vessel to boundary-pushing sculptures that challenge expectations of the medium. The exhibition demonstrates the seemingly endless versatility of clay and the myriad directions contemporary ceramic artists are taking it.
Visitors are invited to meet participating artists during an artist reception October 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission to the gallery and reception is free for members, with a suggested donation of $10 for nonmembers.
Juror Bradley Klem will serve as Lighthouse ArtCenter’s 3-Wings Visiting Artist, leading a “China Painting Today: Image, Ornament, Meaning” workshop October 9–11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. During the workshop, participants will explore the contemporary art of china painting through hands-on demonstrations and guided studio sessions covering brushwork, pigment techniques, and firing processes. The workshop is open to all skill levels, and advance registration is required.
