Attorney Mark Miller has built a career standing up for ordinary Americans. At Pacific Legal Foundation—one of the nation’s oldest public interest law firms—he’s taken on tough cases, including one that helped overturn the conviction of a 77-year-old U.S. Army veteran who was wrongfully imprisoned simply for digging a pond on his own property. The Supreme Court of the United States ultimately ordered the conviction vacated.
Based on Florida’s Treasure Coast, Miller directs Environment and Natural Resources litigation at Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF), a national nonprofit that fights—at no charge—for Americans’ constitutional rights. PLF boasts an 18-2 record before the Supreme Court and once earned praise from President Ronald Reagan for “working on behalf of the public.”
Over the past two decades, Miller has helped lead three unanimous Special Promotional Section victories at the U.S. Supreme Court, each one defending the rights of property owners against government overreach.
A proud double Gator, Miller earned both his undergraduate and law degrees with honors from the University of Florida before clerking for U.S. District Judge Henry Lee Adams Jr. and Florida appellate Judge Emerson R. Thompson Jr. After being appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to the Florida Commission on Human Relations, he was elected Chair by his colleagues on the commission. He also serves on the Law Center Association Board of Trustees for UF’s College of Law.
At home in Palm City, Mark and his wife, Mindy, a Catholic school principal, raised four children—two University of Florida graduates like their dad and two University of Notre Dame graduates like their mom.
