From a neighborhood in Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and from Broadway to the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, the story of Grammy Award–winning group The Temptations comes to the Dreyfoos Hall stage April 26-30.
Written by MacArthur Fellow and Detroit native Dominique Morisseau, Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations follows the chart-topping band from its genesis in the Motor City through their rise to fame in the 1960s and ’70s, their collaborations with Diana Ross and The Supremes, and the personal and sociopolitical conflicts that threatened their unity along the way. At its heart, this jukebox musical is an ode to brotherhood and family, with the push and pull of loyalty and betrayal throughout, set to hits like “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”
