West Palm Beach Couple to Receive 2027 McIntosh Award

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will present the honor to Christina and Benjamin Macfarland III

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will present the 2027 McIntosh Award to dedicated Palm Beach County philanthropists and community leaders Christina and Benjamin Macfarland III.

Named in honor of Community Foundation founders Winsome and Michael McIntosh, the award is presented annually to individuals or organizations who has made significant contributions to the community. The Macfarlands will be recognized at the Fourteenth Annual Founders Luncheon, taking place at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach on February 24, 2027.

About the Macfarlands

Meet Christina Macfarland

For more than two decades, Christina has strengthened communities through philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and civic engagement. From 2013 to 2022, she served on the Board of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, including as chair and co-chair of the Community Impact Committee for seven years, and as Board Secretary for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. She served on the foundation’s various advisory committees, including Development, Audit, Scholarship Advisory, Covid-19 Fund, Racial Equity and Inclusion, Strategic Planning, and MacArthur Fund, and guided the foundation’s $141 million to more than $250 million asset growth.

Christina serves on the board of trustees of Palm Beach Day Academy and the El Cid Neighborhood Association Board, and is involved with the Flagler Museum and Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. A graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s degree in public administration, with a certificate in nonprofit management, from American University.

Meet Benjamin Macfarland III

Benjamin is the founder and CEO of SROA Capital, a vertically integrated real estate equity firm focused on self-storage through Storage Rentals of America. The lifelong resident of Palm Beach County has invested more than $5 billion in real estate over the past two decades and built Storage Rentals of America into a leading self-storage platforms, with more than 700 locations across the country. The firm is also evolving into a leading global investment manager. Benjamin remains deeply connected to his alma mater, Florida State University, where he first launched a valet parking company as a student, and later donated commercial space in West Palm Beach to help establish the university’s local footprint. He is a member of the Real Estate Roundtable in Washington, D.C.

The couple lives in West Palm Beach with their five children, and are active supporters of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Flagler Museum, Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, Real Estate Roundtable, Florida State University, Florida Atlantic University, Palm Beach Day Academy, Saint Andrew’s School, the Orange Bowl Committee, and the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.
