The City of West Palm Beach’s Community Events Division launched its innovative DIY Event Guide to keep residents of all ages entertained and connected to their neighborhood from home. The guide was designed to help people recreate the city’s quintessential events, like Clematis by Night, and celebrate moments at home due to help maintain public safety and social distancing protocols through the COVID-19 crisis. Residents are encouraged to post their creations online, using #WPBtogether, to join the virtual festival. All videos can be found on the City’s website.

DIY Concerts

Residents can now bring the city’s legendary celebration of music, Clematis by Night, home with them. The events division has created a series of video tutorials that take viewers through the step-by-step process of making homemade instruments to play. The tutorials illustrate how to make drums, banjos, maracas, alligator snappers, harmonicas, and microphones out of simple and inexpensive household items.

DIY Milestone-Moment Events

Even though large celebratory gatherings have been put on hold, families can still honor special moments with the help of the city’s DIY Event Guide. The guide offers tips on how to create celebrations for baby showers, wedding showers, graduations, birthdays, and more using simple and easy-to-find items around the house.

The City of West Palm Beach is known for its immersive movie experiences, which can be recreated at home with a little creativity. In this series, launching on Monday, May 25, community events team members will share their tips and tricks for how to perfect your movie setup. Build your own “box office,” build a fort out of pillows, and make special snacks and treats to bring the theater experience to your living room.

Dad’s Day DIY Air & Boat Show

Beginning Monday, June 8, residents can follow along with thorough tutorials on how to create model boats and airplanes for some Father’s Day fun. Participants are encouraged to race their boats in their sinks, bathtubs, and pools or fly their airplanes to give dad an at-home air and sea show.
