All-natural, DIY face masks are an essential for at-home spa days. Local wellness guru Jules Aron shares a simple remedy for clear, smooth skin from her new book, Fresh & Pure: Organically Crafted Beauty Balms and Cleansers (Countryman Press, $20). “Three powerful ingredients work in harmony in this luxurious sea mask,” says Aron. “The French green clay coaxes out deep toxins. The mineral-rich spirulina clears out blemishes and fights free radicals, while the moisturizing coconut oil nourishes and replenishes skin.”
SEA SIREN MASK
(makes 6 masks)
2 oz. French green clay
1 tbsp. spirulina powder
2 tbsp. distilled water
1 tsp. coconut oil
In an airtight glass container, mix together the dry ingredients and store in a dark, cool place. When ready to use, mix 2 tsp. of the dry ingredients with water and coconut oil to create a muddy paste. Apply mask all over the face, neck, and chest, avoiding the gentle skin around the eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
