National Dance Day Returns to the Kravis Center

The Kravis Center in West Palm Beach will set the scene for National Dance Day festivities on September 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Serving once again as the official National Dance Day host, and emceed by CBS12 anchor Sam Kerrigan, the Kravis Center has a full lineup of free workshops and classes, including hip-hop, ballroom à la Dirty Dancing, jazz funk, and more expert-led activities for everyone.

National Dance Day supports and shares the joys and benefits of dance and movement. National Dance Day is presented in collaboration with American Dance Movement, an organization that funds dance education in underserved communities and educates the public on the health, self-confidence, self-expression, social benefits of dance. Participants are encouraged to register for free in advance for the National Dance Day workshops.

National Dance Day Schedule

  • 11 a.m. Doors and Community Marketplace open
  • 11:30 a.m. to Noon. Welcome and group warm-up led by Lori Ramirez in the Gimelstob Ballroom
  • 12:15 to 1 p.m. Hip-Hop workshop led by Larry Albright in the Gimelstob Ballroom
  • 12:15 to 1 p.m. Theatre Dance class led by Ashley Bachner in the Dance Studio
  • 12:15 to 1 p.m. All Together Dance class led by Kori Epps in the Dance Studio. All levels and all ages are celebrated. No technique necessary.
  • 1:15 to 2 p.m. “Musicality in Latin American Dancing: Incorporating the Music and Spirit of Dirty Dancing” Ballroom Dance workshop led by Manuel Favilla and Natalia Maidiuk in the Gimelstob Ballroom
  • 1:15 to 3 p.m. Open Level Ballet class led by Jean-Hugues Feray in the Khoury Family Dance Rehearsal Hall. Designed for ages 8 and up.
  • 1:15 to 2 p.m. African Dance class led by Shanna Woods in the Dance Studio

  • 2:15 to 3 p.m. Country Fusion Line Dance workshop led by Kristi Moynihan in the Gimelstob Ballroom
  • 2:15 to 3 p.m. Jazz Funk class led by Herman Payne in the Khoury Family Dance Rehearsal Hall
  • 2:15 to 3 p.m. Contemporary Dance class led by Shizu Yasuda in the Khoury Family Dance Rehearsal Hall
  • 3:15 to 4 p.m. National Dance Day Official Routine in the Gimelstob Ballroom
